Serum Institute of India on Sunday became the first indigenous company to apply for approval from the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) for emergency use of Oxford's COVID-19 vaccine. The SII's vaccine is being developed in partnership with the University of Oxford and British company AstraZeneca. Pfizer became the first to seek approval from India's drug regulator, report says.

18 miners died and 5 missing after CO gas leak in China
At least 18 miners after a carbon monoxide leak in a coal mine at south-western China, a broadcaster CCTV reported. As per the reports, the gas leak at the Diashuidong mine happened when the workers were packing up the materials. The mine was closed for the past 2 months. Sixteen workers were killed before in September in Chongqin due to a similar incident of CO gas leakage.
